It seems like I am always networking. I keep business cards in my purse and I'm constantly passing them out. Sometimes I strike up a conversation with someone, anyone, and then out comes my business card. Honestly, business cards are still pretty darn important in this digital world.
Don't misjudge how vital business cards are to your brand identity or business. Most of the time your business card is like a first impression. The look and feel of your card should represent exactly who you are! Because I'm going to be honest, I totally judge people by their card. If it's poorly designed, I can't get over it (but I'm weird like that!).
What should your business card say? In my personal experience and what has worked for me is it should list every way for a person to contact you. For me it's my blog url, email, Twitter handle, and Facebook fan page address. I also think it's a good idea to have a picture of you or something that best represents you on the card. People are more likely to remember WHO you are if there is something that reminds them of you personally. Maybe you're a baker and are known for awesome delicious cupcakes? Your business card should reflect that in some way. Yes that seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how well it works to keep things straightforward.
If you're not sure how you want to design your business cards, hire a designer! It's worth it!
