Oh man, the weekend has never been so sweet. I lived it up a little bit this weekend, getting in as much family time as I could before I had to start back to work again. I have a weird schedule at my new job, working Tuesdays through Saturdays, leaving me Sunday and Monday off. It's kinda cool because you can get choresy stuff done still... so yeah, nothing choresy got done though. Meh.
We went hiking at Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale and it was pretty cool. Hiking in Phoenix is pretty different than doing it in LA. For starters, total different scenery (obviously). I'm not sure if I'm that much of a fan of the desert looks, but I can still appreciate it. I kept thinking how I missed the beautiful grassy, shaded mountains in LA. I know we can get that here too, but we'd have to drive a few hours and that's just probably not going to happen for our spontaneous hiking trips. The rocky scene was still pretty cool though. Wyatt thought it was cool scaling up on rocks and stuff... I was way more nervous to have him hiking that sort of landscape, but he did well. I carried him a few times though. We made it up to the top and back down again. I'm not sure how long it was, but I'm guessing maybe a mile and a half. There are a few different trails at Thunderbird and we didn't even bother to see which one we were actually hiking. Also, even though the temps have dropped here (wooo! 92 degrees! it's like it's fall! ha.) it was still pretty blazing up on the mountain. I'm a little bit burned right now. Ah, oh well.
We also barbecued at a friends house over the weekend. It's nice that we know a few people out here and I'm pretty thankful for that. Josh and his best friend worked on a hard math problem FOR FUN for a few hours. A FEW HOURS. They never solved it and decided to come back to it another day. Me? I browsed Facebook. Sorry not sorry, so not into thinking hard on the weekends.
I hope everyone has a great week this week! I'm sure most of the country has their pumpkin spice candles blazing, but I'm drinking a Pumpkin Wheat Shock Top with my AC set low.
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?
